College Names First Communication Department Chair

Dr. Thom Gencarelli has been named as associate professor and the first chair of the College's new communication department.

Gencarelli earned his B.F.A. in Communication Arts at the New York Institute of Technology; an M.A. in media studies at Queens College of the City University of New York; and a Ph.D. in media ecology from New York University. He is currently associate professor and deputy chair of the department of broadcasting at Montclair State University.

After beginning his career at Iona College's communication arts department, Gencarelli went on to hold adjunct faculty positions at Fordham University, New York University, Bronx Community College, York College and Adelphi University. He currently holds an adjunct position in the department of media studies at the New School, where he also serves as master's thesis advisor.
