Peace Studies program to receive a grant

The College’s peace studies program will receive a grant from the Riverdale United Nations Association (UNA) along with several other organizations. The award will be given as part of a reception in the Alumni Room of the O’Malley Library on Friday, April 9, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. The funds for this project come from the Patricia Kozma bequest to the UNA-USA Riverdale Chapter.  Kozma was a longtime Riverdale resident and Riverdale Chapter Board member. She was devoted to the purposes and objectives of the United Nations and UNA-USA and made the bequest for the furtherance of these goals.

Margaret Groarke, director of the College’s peace studies program and an associate professor in government, said, “We are grateful to the Riverdale UNA. This grant will allow Peace Studies and JustPeace, the student activist group, to do more work on peace and justice issues over the next few years, and will help us reach out to invite Riverdale and Bronx residents to our events and do more collaborative work on important issues.”

Staff Week

Human Resources will be holding a week of appreciation for its staff members, April 19-23. This is the week to say thank you to secretaries, clerical staff, print shop, mail room, telecommunications, security officers, physical plant and residence life. Raffles will be held throughout the week. The department is collecting donated items through April 15. Please contact Vicki Cowan at ext. 7398 or Pat Stone at ext. 7392 with questions.
