Engineering School Hosts Awareness Day for High School Students

On Nov. 11, the school of engineering hosted its annual Engineering Awareness Day to introduce high school seniors and juniors to the different sectors of engineering, especially engineering at Manhattan College. Nearly 275 students and parents attended the event which was held in Smith Auditorium, and Tim Ward, Ph.D., P.E. dean of the school of engineering and Richard Schneider, P.E., academic advisor for the school of engineering, kick-started the day with a welcome speech and introduced a panel consisting of students, former students and faculty members. The panel related their own experiences in engineering and at Manhattan College for the audience.

After the panel discussion, parents had the option to attend a question and answer session in the Scala Academy Room and students could take tours of Leo Hall and the Research & Learning Center on the south campus. During lunch, William Bisset, vice president for enrollment management, made a few remarks on admissions at Manhattan and opened the floor to questions from the participants. After lunch, students and parents had the opportunity to take a campus tour, meet with admissions counselors and visit the bookstore.
