Charles H. Thornton ’61, Ph.D., P.E., will deliver Manhattan’s keynote address at the College’s 171st Commencement on May 19. Thornton is one of the world’s preeminent structural engineers and is a founding principal and former co-chairman of the international consulting firm Thornton Tomasetti, a worldwide leader in engineering design. College Marks 50th Anniversary of Pacem in Terris with Lecture Series, Library Exhibit
Pope John XXIII’s 1963 historic encyclical, Pacem in Terris (Peace on Earth), which urged government leaders to address political differences through negotiation, not arms, spawned the creation of the College’s interdisciplinary Peace Studies program. Manhattan is marking the 50th anniversary of Pacem in Terris with a series of lectures, capped off by an archival exhibit. READ MORE»

College’s Holocaust, Genocide and Interfaith Education Center to Sponsor Events on April 4, 10, 16 and 25
The Holocaust, Genocide and Interfaith Education (HGI) Center will sponsor a variety of lectures and events this month starting on April 4 with the Frederick M. Schweitzer Lecture. After record-setting performances at the ASU Invitational, Manhattan’s Brian McGovern ’13 and Lydia Wehrli ’15 were both named the first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Performers of the Week for the outdoor track season.

Thomas Curry ’78 to Speak at FSAC Reception on April 30
On April 30, Thomas Curry ’78 will join the College community as featured speaker at the 11th annual Financial Services Advisory Council (FSAC) at the University Club of New York. As head of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), Curry ’78 oversees more than 2,000 national banks and federal saving associations.
