A Year in Review

In 2018, we marked the beginning of several new chapters in the College's history. We broke ground on the Higgins Engineering and Science Center, opened the Lasallian Women and Gender Resource Center, named the O'Malley School of Business, and welcomed a new dean. Somehow, the singers found the time to perform at Radio City Music Hall.

Lasallian Educator Award Highlights Goma's Impact

Throughout the past three decades, students in the O’Malley School of Business have had the chance to learn about balance sheets and life lessons from Ahmed Goma, Ph.D. Goma was recently recognized for his work with Manhattan College’s Distinguished Lasallian Educator Award.

On February 7, 2019, the annual De La Salle Medal Dinner will take place at the Grand Hyatt New York. The black tie gala is the College's largest annual fundraising event. The 2019 De La Salle Medal recipient will be John McAvoy ’80, chairman and CEO of Con Edison.

Ancient Species Named for Biology Professor? Wild!

What do you call a hoofed mammal that resembled a camel with a trunk, weighed roughly 100 pounds and lived 13 million years ago in South America? Llullataruca shockeyi, an extinct species that existed during the Miocene era has been named for Bruce Shockey, Ph.D., associate professor of biology at Manhattan College.

Senior Engineer One of 174 Students to Earn IEEE Award

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Power and Energy Society recently awarded James Durkin ’19 a scholarship as part of the IEEE PES Scholarship Plus Initiative. Durkin will receive $2,000 for being named a PES Scholar.
